Class Information

Have you always been interested in becoming a Firefighter or Paramedic but just didn't know where to begin? Well hopefully we can answer some questions for you here.  The Firefighter Job Description from the Department of Labor is linked here. This includes EMS Job Description as well.

Our Programs are Texas DSHS Approved and Texas Fire Commission Approved.

The prerequisites for admission for any Program are:

Application

Copy of High School Diploma or GED
Copy of College Transcripts (if applicable)

Clean Criminal Record (no Felonies)

Once admitted, you will be required to provide copies of your Driver's License.
Additionally, if you are applying for admission to an Advanced Level EMS course, you must furnish the results of your basic level certification along with your National Registry & State of Texas Certifications.

A uniform is required to be worn.  The pants are typical BDU's and can be purchased at Wal Mart, Dickies outlet or other places. We can furnish you with a list. The shirt is a class B dark blue button down -also available at the same places. We will furnish Tee-shirts for you. Boots are required for the Fire Academy and black shoes may be worn for the EMS classes.

A syllabus and schedule will be distributed via email prior to the first class session.

All courses will require that you have access to a computer.

We are not a college based program. But we are linked to a college if you want to have hours awarded upon completion of this course. Talk to the Program Director about it on Orientation Day.
